Fucoidan, also known as fucoidan and fucoidan, is an intercellular polysaccharide found in brown algae such as kelp, Undaria pinnatifida and fucoidan.
It has a unique sulfur-containing group and can protect the water content of marine plants. It can still ensure the survival of marine brown algae even under very harsh environments such as strong light exposure.
Potential stocks start with hot research
Japan is one of the countries with the longest life expectancy in the world and one of the countries with the lowest incidence of common chronic diseases in the western world. It is generally believed that one of the most important factors for the health of Japanese people is the regular consumption of marine food, especially seaweed. Therefore, it is not surprising that the research and development of fucoidan began in Japan. At present, there are more than 100 studies on fucoidan in Japan alone. A large number of scientific researches have proved that fucoidan has over 20 physiological effects such as bidirectional regulation of immunity, scavenging free radicals, anti-aging, anticoagulant and antithrombotic, anti-tumor and HIV virus, elimination of gastrointestinal disorders, antiallergic, enhancement of liver function, reduction of hyperlipidemia and hypertension, stabilization of blood sugar level, and promotion of skin regeneration, skin moisturizing, etc. One of the most encouraging effects is its ability to slow down the spread of cancer.
In recent years, many universities and enterprises are carrying out research on fucoidan and have made remarkable progress. Health benefits of fucoidan research in recent years include
Japan: Helps Anticancer Therapy
In 2012, Dr Daisuke Dachuke Tachikawa of Japan considered that fucoidan had achieved impressive results in the treatment of cancer and aroused great interest in the medical field. The specific mechanisms of fucoidan in anti-cancer include: stimulating abnormal cell proliferation (apoptosis); Prevent the formation of new blood vessels-" stop" the transfer phenomenon, strengthen the immune system, awaken the body's natural healing ability, and create the body's attack mechanism. Fucoidan compounds help to induce cancer cells to weaken, collapse naturally, and eventually self-destruct.
Australia: Inhibition of Helicobacter Pylori Adhesion and Prevention of Gastric Cancer
An in vitro study published by researchers at the University of Western Australia in December 2015 found that fucoidan can inhibit the adhesion of Helicobacter pylori to gastric epithelial cells and has deep toxicity to human gastric cancer cells, of which Fucus B, a secondary fucoidan component with high polyphenol content extracted from Fucus vesiculosus, has the greatest toxicity to AGS cancer cells. Therefore, if fucoidan, especially Fucus B, can penetrate the protective mucosal surface of the stomach at low pH to bind with Helicobacter pylori, it has potential clinical application in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection and is helpful to prevent the occurrence of potential gastric cancer.
A study on cats and dogs released at the AACR Dead Sea International Cancer Research Progress Conference held in January 2016 found that fucoidan can effectively improve the immune system of human body and effectively kill middle road cells, especially lymphoma cells. This study is an experimental study. Fucoidan was used on the cultured lymphoma cell lines. The results showed that the growth of lymphoma cells was inhibited while healthy cells remained intact.
Melanoma is one of the most diffuse and difficult cancers to treat. A study published in January 2017 in case western reserve university of the United States showed that fucoidan, a new natural functional raw material, has a good assisting effect on inhibiting the development of melanoma. This study found that lapatinib inhibited the proliferation of melanoma by 60%. However, the inhibition rate of melanoma proliferation can reach 85% by combining lapatinib with fucoidan. In addition, fucoidan can also eliminate the side effects of long-term use of lapatinib. Fucoidan doubles the killing ability of lapatinib cancer cells, which can further reduce AKT and NFkB signals. These two signals are key channels related to the survival of melanoma cells. More importantly, fucoidan can also inhibit ERBB3 expression through specific messenger RNA, or select ERBB3 neutralizing antibody to inhibit melanoma cell growth.
In March 2017, Dr. Susannah trujillo of the United States found that fucoidan from brown algae extract and active hexose compound from mushroom extract can be used together to offset fatigue caused by lack of red blood cells or increase of immune deficiency caused by lack of white blood cells, and the combination of the two can be used as an auxiliary method for cancer treatment.
Prior to this, studies on fucoidan and polyphenol from Undaria pinnatifida and fucoidan from Australia Marinova Pty.Ltd showed that it can significantly reduce wrinkle depth and improve overall skin appearance, inhibit water loss caused by ultraviolet rays, and effectively inhibit the activity of free radical generating enzymes such as myeloperoxidase. In particular, fucoidan and polyphenols can both increase the expression of SIRT1, a protein known for its longevity and anti-aging effects. At present, marinovapty.ltd. has applied it to cosmetics.
